Quilt Workshop with Donate Life on 11/9
Northwest Kidney Kids and Donate Life Northwest invite you to gather, honor, and celebrate
We invite you to join us at this Portland area workshop being sponsored by a local quilting guild to create a square for this coming year's Threads of Life Quilt.

Sunday, November 9 from 1 - 5pm
Lions Vision Gate
2201 SE 11th Avenue, Portland, OR, United States

Ordinary people with extraordinary stories of inspiration, hope and courage create quilt squares as a means of sharing their story and spreading the word about the critical need for and benefits of organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Each year in April, during National Donate Life month, Donate Life Northwest unveils a new Threads of Life Quilt. The quilts are dedicated to the memory of those who gave the gift of life, sight and mobility. They also celebrate the lives of transplant recipients and offer hope to those awaiting transplant. Each quilt is comprised of individually-designed squares created by people touched by organ, eye, and tissue donation.

The quilts are not only a beautiful and inspiring tribute, but also serve as a thought-provoking testament to the fact that organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplantation transform lives. We hope you will consider joining us.

No quilting experience is required! This workshop is an opportunity for those with no quilting experience to gain guidance in creating their square, as well as to meet our community of volunteers.

Quilt materials, guidance, and refreshments will be provided. Space is limited to 50 people, so be sure to reserve your spot today!

2015 Camp Dates
Camp Dates will be announced soon!

Teen Camp
Aldersgate Retreat Center, Turner, Oregon

Teen Kidney Camp is being expanded from three to four days in 2014. It is exclusively for teens, ages 14-18 (or older if still in high school). Teens and young adults learn to build independence and self-esteem, while educators, physicians and social workers provide them with seminars on health related self-management skills. The training they receive at Teen Kidney Camp is critical in helping to ensure that they keep their transplants and adhere to life with kidney disease. Teen Camp is limited to 20 youth for 2014.

Family Camp
Aldersgate Retreat Center, Turner, Oregon

Family Kidney Camp is for children with chronic kidney disease (either on dialysis or having had a transplant) and their family members. Family Kidney Camp addresses the unmet need of providing no-cost education and emotional support services to children with kidney disease and their family members. For many families, Kidney Camp is their only opportunity to connect with other children having a similar experience and access education specific to kidney disease. Participants receive support and information from professionals who understand the challenges associated with kidney disease and both children and parents offer meaningful support to one another. This is especially important to children who are new to kidney disease.
2014 Family Camp is limited to 150 people.

Registration will open in April 2015 for Oregon and SW Washington residents. To make sure you don't miss out on registering please sign up for our newsletter.
